42-year-old man was killed over land in Akwa Ibom

A 42-year-old man, identified as Edidiong Joseph Effiong was, on Wednesday, murdered in cold blood over a lingering land dispute between two families in Ibiaku Itam in Itu local government area of Akwa Ibom State.   DAILY POST gathered that the deceased was severally cut around his neck region by his suspected assailant, Ambrose Bassey Jeremiah, before he gave up the ghost. According to the father of the deceased, Chief Joseph Effiong, who is also the family head of the greater Ikamaenyin family of Ikot Efaha Itong community, “The land belonged to my late father since the 30’s and when I grew up I inherited the land at his death. Part of the land is where I am building this house and shops here as you can see. “But along the line, precisely in 2010, this boy of over 35 years old started laying claim to the land, saying someone in the community showed him the plot as belonging to them. “The matter has been in court since 2010 and the case was to be decided on August 8, when he

Notorious serial killer sentenced to death in Kano

A notorious criminal and serial killer, Umar Yakubu, has been sentenced to death by a Kano State High Court.    The High Court found Umar Yakubu, alias Baban Mage of Tukuntawa quarters guilty in the case of culpable homicide and adjudicated death sentence on him. The Kano High Court Presiding Judge, Justice Dije Abdu Aboki, sentenced Baban Mage to death by hanging for killing one Ibrahim Adamu with a pair of scissors. The prosecution counsel, Lamido Soron Dinki told the court that Baban Mage fatally stabbed Ibrahim Adamu on June 29, 2018. Mr Soron Dinki presented six witnesses before the court while the accused Baban Mage said he was not guilty in the case. The accused Person, however, did not say whether he will appeal the judgment or not as he shunned the media after he was sentenced.

Nigerians react to MURIC’s call on Buhari to stop BBNaija

The Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, has come under attack over its call on President Muhammadu Buhari to stop the airing of Big Brother Naija reality TV show.     MURIC had, in a statement sent to DAILY POST, attacked the government of President Muhammadu Buhari for allowing the BBNaija show to go on. The Islamic group labelled the show being aired on national television as immoral, dangerous and Bohemian. The Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, has attacked the government of President Muhammadu Buhari for allowing the Big Brother Naija reality TV show go on. The Islamic group labelled the show being aired on national television as ‘immoral, dangerous and Bohemian.’ BB Naija, is currently making waves in Nigeria featuring some romantic scenes among the housemates.
