A notorious criminal and serial killer, Umar Yakubu, has been sentenced to death by a Kano State High Court.

The High Court found Umar Yakubu, alias Baban Mage of Tukuntawa quarters guilty in the case of culpable homicide and adjudicated death sentence on him. The Kano High Court Presiding Judge, Justice Dije Abdu Aboki, sentenced Baban Mage to death by hanging for killing one Ibrahim Adamu with a pair of scissors. The prosecution counsel, Lamido Soron Dinki told the court that Baban Mage fatally stabbed Ibrahim Adamu on June 29, 2018. Mr Soron Dinki presented six witnesses before the court while the accused Baban Mage said he was not guilty in the case. The accused Person, however, did not say whether he will appeal the judgment or not as he shunned the media after he was sentenced.
